39 year old Levi Jackson could spend a maximum of life behind bars after he
was convicted of rape today.
A jury of 7 women and two men took two hours to find him guilty of the rape
of a 29 year old woman. The woman who once worked with him told police that
on Sunday August 26, 2007, he offered to give her a ride from her home on the
early part of the Western Highway to mile 8.
But instead he took her to a feeder road off the boom road where she claims
he begged her for sex. When she refused, she says he pulled her out of the car
by her hair, punched her in the face, ripped off her clothes and then raped
her. In his defense, Jackson said that they had consensual intercourse. He was
undefended.
Justice Oswell Legall will sentence him on Friday, May 8.
