Authorities in Honduras and Belize had been looking for Joseph Dunsavage for
a week – and yesterday, it was announced that the official search was
ended after no trace of the New Jersey businessman was found.
The Belize Coast Guard’s vessels and the us military helicopters and
airplanes have stopped searching and now only a few private searches continued
today. One of those search missions on Astrium helicopters returned this evening,
and there was still no sign of Dunsavage or his small vessel. And while the
hopes of finding anyone alive have faded, the family it seems are looking for
some proof that will bring them some kind of closure, so some private searches
may continue into the week – but no final decision has been made.
Dunsavage was last seen about 11:30 a.m. on Sunday May 10th sailing his catamaran
out to fish Roatan on Honduras’s northeastern coast.
