For two years he has been Belize’s most wanted which is why it is big
news tonight that the infamous Arthur Young is a fugitive no more. Today Arthur
Young minus his trademark dreadlocks was deported from Houston for illegal entry.
At 10 am, Arthur Young went from the hands of U.S. Marshalls into the hands
of Belizean police when he got off the Continental flight. He was taken to the
Magistrate’s Court this afternoon where he was promptly charged for the
November 2007 stabbing murder of Calvin Flowers and the attempted murder of
Floyd Wade. It is alleged that he along with Errol Haynes entered Calvin Young’s
apartment in Belama and stabbed him in his face and neck until he was dead.
The murder was perplexing because Calvin Young was the son of Arthur Young’s
allegedly close associate, James Young. Arthur Young fled Belize shortly after
the murder and has been on the run since. Well now 18 months later, his run
has come to the end. He was remanded to prison and now joins Errol Haynes who
is awaiting trial for the murder.
Arthur Young was previously charged for the 2002 murder of Jose Chavarria in
2002. He similarly fled Belize after that murder but was deported in 2005. The
murder charge was later dropped.
