We know up until recently the National Fire Services has had to deal with not
only burning buildings but bush fires that have kept fire fighters busy at work
that many times has been a challenge due to the limited resources on hand. There
is a plan to improve and strengthen the essential service provided and this
week four additional fire trucks could be seen in the compound at the National
Fire Service headquarters in Belize City.
The four used and refurbished vehicles are among a total of eight fire trucks
purchased in the United Kingdom for four hundred and fifteen thousand dollars.
The partially equipped fire trucks will be fully outfitted and then assigned
to the various fire sub stations across the country.
The additional fire trucks are part of government’s expansion programme
for the national fire service. Special thanks is given to Fyffes Belize Limited
for making it possible for the trucks to be shipped for free to Belize from
the United Kingdom.
