There were two deadly collisions on the highways over the weekend –
resulting in the loss of the lives of two men in their twenties. We start on
the Northern Highway where between miles 29 and 30 where there was a massive
collision. 7News was on the scene shortly after.
Keith Swift Reporting,
This was the scene Saturday afternoon on the Northern Highway between miles
29 and 30. Police say this Isuzu DMax was driven by Vicente Rivera was travelling
from Orange Walk to Belize City when it collided into this green Mazda 626 which
was heading north on the Northern Highway.
Both vehicles landed on the left hand side of the road. The force of the collision
flipped the DMax which rolled and landed with its four wheels in the air. The
driver Vicente Rivera was flung not too far from the vehicle and died on the
spot.
25 feet from the DMax was the Mazda 626 – which had been destroyed. Its entire back portion was missing. That is in addition to its back and front passenger
doors.
Miraculously that driver survived but Vicente Rivera didn’t. His family
is left to pick up the pieces.
Porfilio Rivera, Brother of Accident Victim
“What I am aware is that he was driving from Orange Walk towards Belize
City and then a little car going from here to Orange Walk crashed into him and
then he turned over and that is all I know.”
Keith Swift,

Porfilio Rivera,
“A four door pickup, Isuzu.”
Keith Swift,
From what you heard who was in the wrong?
Porfilio Rivera,
“I can’t say about that. I have no clue about that. He was a

“Definitely.”
A post mortem will be conducted on Rivera’s body tomorrow. Investigations
