The Christine Perriott trial continued today in the Supreme Court. Perriott
is suing Belize Telemedia for wrongfully terminating her. This morning Dale
Trujeque – the former Human Resource Manager at BTL took the stand. His
time on the stand was short as he testified that if you go by the appraisals,
Christine was a good worker. But Telemedia’s attorney Andrew Marshalleck
reminded Trujeque that he revised at least one of those appraisals and suggested
that he did it because of his cozy relationship Christine Perriott.
Christine’s attorney Antonette Moore attempted to call Romel Carcamo
from the Labour Office but he didn’t show up to court. A decision was
made to subpoena him.
The court resumed this afternoon when Jose Riverol took the stand. He was Christine’s
supervisor in the Internet Services Department from 2005 up to the time of her
termination in February of 2007. He described Christine’s tenure as quote
“difficult.” He testified that Perriott failed to meet deadlines,
did only between 10% to 20% of the work assigned, and admitted that he indirectly
recommended her termination. He said Christine spent more time working for the
union than she did in the Internet Department.
Riverol is now a manager in the Information Technology Development Department
at BTL and Moore suggested that his promotion was repayment for helping them
get rid of Christine. The trial continues tomorrow.
