The Association of Concerned Belizeans has weighed in with some force against
Belize City Mayor Zenaida Moya. The Association sent out a release today calling
for the Mayor to take responsibility for whatever loss results from the investigation
into money unaccounted for at the council. Only problem is nothing has been
proven – in fact the Mayor has offered proof that she accounted for all
expenditure.
But the ACB says “cho!” Remarkably, the release states that producing
“vouchers” after the fact only heightens public suspicion and even
if every dollar is accounted for, “the sense that vouchers were prepared
to cover up wrongdoing by persons yet to be named will remain.”
That is an allegation of both fraud and theft – and very strong language
considering that the ACB was considered an ally of the UDP in the run-up to
the election.
