And while the footballers are heading west, Belize’s softball girls are
returning from the 7th Pan American Women’s softball championship with
their dignity intact. After some withering defeats form regional powerhouses,
Belize bounced back and just missed the cut to qualify for the Central American
and Caribbean Games in 2010.
The team needed to win both games today and came up short with winning only
one. El Salvador beat us seven to six while Belize beat Panama convincingly
10 to 5. Not a great outcome but much better than 1996 when Belize did not win
any games; this time we won two.
