Song Competition in Cyberspace

The semifinalists in this year’s carnival and Patriotic Song Competitions have been chosen. There were a total of seventeen submissions for the patriotic song and eleven submissions for the carnival song. Of that number, seven semi finalists from each category were selected.

It is now up to you the voting public who will decide the favorite songs of choice and that you can do by accessing the September celebrations website - you’ll find a linkto that at 7news belize.com

The semifinalists selected in the carnival song competition are Captain Rody with “Fyaah In The Street”, Mervin Budram with “Jump 4 Belize”, Berne Velasquez with two entries,
“Belizean Coming Down” and “Carnival Wind”, Salus Magana with “Belizean United,” Adrian Garbutt with “Through The Streets” and Amilcar Vasquez along With Belizean Entertainment with “In This Carnival.”

Meanwhile the semifinalists for the patriotic song competition are Bea and Herschel Armstrong along with Alexander Evans and their submission “Belize – we are free”, Kernel Parks and “Take Me Back To Belize”, Patrick Mcpherson with “Dis Da Fi We” Phillip Flowers And David Sutherland, “September Is The Season”, Barrington Castillo with “Shout Belize”, Benito Bol with “Welcome To My Country” and Merlene Clark with “Independence Day.”

And while you will be able to listen to the semifinalists songs online as you vote for the favorite patriotic and carnival songs, you will be able to see the semifinalists in a live performance at the house of culture on Friday night, August fifteenth at seven.
