And another kind of blaze, “blazing up” or at least providing the
material for it is what has a Corozal farmer in jail tonight. The farmer has
been fined several thousands of dollars after he was busted with just over a
kilo, two pounds five ounces of marijuana.
Thirty five year old Ellis Rudon of Corozalito Village was fined and confined
today in number six Belize City Magistrate’s Court after he pleaded guilty
to drug trafficking. Rudon who appeared before Magistrate Sharon Fraser was
fined ten thousand dollars and sentenced to three years in jail. If Rudon s
unable to pay his fine he will have to serve an additional three years.
Around eleven thirty on Wednesday night a police mobile patrol on Central American
Boulevard spotted the accused walking near Belize Unit Trust with a plastic
bag in hand. The police stopped Ellis Rudon and conducted a search and that
is when they found the drugs in a white crocus sack. The cannabis amounted to
a little over two and a quarter pounds.
