A pair of robbers also went into a San Pedro store last night with
guns blazing. It happened around 9:30 when two men stormed into Espinosa Store
on Pearl Street in the San Pablo area. According to investigating officer Sgt.
Leslie Wade, they shot the security guard 24 year old Alvaro Ramos to his back
and the shop attendant, 23 year old Juan Lopez in the jaw. We have pictures

Sgt. Leslie Wade, Investigating Officer
“Initial investigations reveal that two armed masked man, both entered
the said Espinoza Store from the rear where they held up first Mr. Juan Lopez
at gunpoint and then the other robber went on to rob the store. The security
guard who is Mr. Alvaro Ramos was then outside in the front of the shop. Him
hearing the commotion then went into the shop and it was then that four shots
were fired in which Ramos was injured to the back and also Mr. Lopez was then
injured in the lower jaw. They then left with an uncertain amount of money and
they made good their escape.”
Jules Vasquez,
“Why did they have to fire at the security and the clerk?”
Sgt. Leslie Wade,
“I believe it was when the security entered the shop, inside the shop,
who was the security but was unarmed. I guess because of his uniform or him
being the security I guess they then believed that he might have been armed
and that’s what triggered off the whole entire situation in them getting
shot.”
At 11:30 last night, both men were flown out to the KHMH in Belize
City via BATSUB helicopter. They are admitted in stable condition and declined
interviews. Police have no suspects and no one detained. They have however stepped
up patrols for the September celebration season. There was also a non fatal
shooting on San Pedro on Sunday night.
