On Friday we told you about Vidal Campos, the 42 year old ex-cop who was charged
for stealing a rental car. We also told you that he was wanted for various offences
in other parts of the country. Well, today he was back in Belize City Magistrate’s
Court for obtaining property by deception, specifically thirty thousand dollars
he got from pawning a piece of property that isn’t his.
The allegation is that on August fifth, he pawned lot #117 in Hopkins by forging
the name of Constantino Palacio and pawning the property to Fair Brothers Pawn
Shop in Belize City. Campos pleaded not guilty to the charge and received bail
of five thousand dollars. But that’s not the end of it; Campos still has
to appear in Belmopan Magistrate’s court for a charge of forgery.
