51 year old Guyanese national Calvin Lewis, a resident of the West Landivar Area who allegedly had material for forging Belize and US currency was charged with preparation for a crime when he appeared in the #6 Magistrate’s Court. Police went to Lewis’s apartment at 11 in the morning last week Thursday and found a sealed package with paper measured up to the size of Belize hundred dollar notes, another package with papers the size of US notes, 6 bottles of liquid and an iron.

Lewis who said he is a machinist pleaded not guilty to the charges. The prosecution objected to bail because he is a foreigner and is a flight risk. But his attorney BQ Pitts that bail can be granted for the offence. Still, Magistrate Sharon Fraser remanded him into custody until Monday September 14th.
