Don Hector Silva, he’s an old guard politician with a new attitude and
more than that, he’s media savvy. That’s why when you tell anyone
who’s listened to LOVE FM anytime in say.... the last 10 years or so.....
knows that Don Hector got the axe in the Senate, they’ll know who you’re
taking about. And apparently Don Hector knows how to parlay his celebrity into
public sympathy. As we’ve reported, Silva was dumped as a senator to make
way for Eamon Courtenay – who has been criticized within his own party’s
executive as Michael Ashcroft’s attorney – who critics say is coupled
now with a party leader who’s brother and cousins are Ashcroft’s
business partners in SMART.
Well, we’ve received an email from the former Cayo Senator saying that,
“Don Hector does not expire so easily NOR is he for sale.”
Silva adds that he will say more eventually, but for the time being, will take
a sabbatical to, “gather my scattered thoughts.” He closes
with a sharp right aimed for the chin of party leader John Briceno, trotting
out that old quote, "Let it be known that politicians are born -not
made."
Silva has made it clear that he was not consulted on his removal from the post
of Senator though the Belize Times reported that the party leader had thanked
him for his service.
