The Belizean athletes participating in the Central American Scholar Sports
games in Costa Rica will be able to return home. 16 of the high school athletes
were stranded in Nicaragua earlier this week when the Nicaragua-Honduras border
was closed because of the return of Honduras’ deposed president.
Those 16 students are back home and according to government, the remaining
53 students who are scheduled to return home this week will do so on Monday
on a chartered Maya Island Air Regional Flight. The official website shows that
so far Belize has not performed impressively in terms of medals –but news
is that we are performing impressively in volleyball.
