Eddie Mac Murdered on North Creek Road
posted (October 13, 2009)

After a recent spike in murders – it looked for a while as if the Pan American Day Weekend would provide some respite from the recent rash of killings – and the holiday weekend almost did do that. Until last night, when killers found 27 year old Eddie Neal on North Creek Road in the Collet Area of Belize City. Eddie Mac, as he was known, as by the description of his girlfriend – a straight hustler – but none of his wiles could have prepared him for the death that a pair of his adversaries had in store for him.

Keith Swift Reporting,
Last night 7News was there as police removed the body of 27 year old Eddie Neal from behind a house on North Creek Road. The scene was emotional – his family members embraced each other and a community once again gazed upon what has become the familiar spectacle of death. But how did Eddie Neal end up dead? His family says he was walking to his home on Supal Street and that is when he was attacked.

Keith Swift,
“Do you know where Eddy was coming from?”

Marion Plunkett Alvarez, Mother of Murder Victim
“From fish market, Vernon Street Bridge but it looked like he was coming this day and he sighted the boy so he went straight up by my auntie’s place. So the last house, there he went and they didn’t want to take him in the house. So he decided to run to the back.”

But there was no cover for Eddie Neal behind the house. He was attacked first with a metal pipe and then he was shot in his head.

Marion Plunkett Alvarez,
“They shot him in his head, they beat him first. When I went to the dead-house and I was holding my son, the whole of this, my five fingers went into my son’s blood. It was the orderly’s who washed my hands. Up to this morning my hands still smell of the blood but that is my child, I don’t care.”

Keith Swift,
“So he was beaten and then shot?”

Keniesha Bodden, Girlfriend of Deceased
“Yes, shot and robbed.”

Keith Swift,
“Do you know what they took?”

Keniesha Bodden,
“His chain and his phone and the money he had.”

Keith Swift,
“Do you think robbery was the motive?”

Keniesha Bodden,
“I think, I don’t know what to say but I don’t think it was a robbery. I think they wanted to kill him and then they must have seen those things on him and they robbed him and thing.”

Curiously Marion Plunkett says she received a telephone call prior to her son’s murder and after.

Marion Plunkett Alvarez,
“A phone call came here last week Friday night saying somebody will cry and somebody will dead. So we were laughing because we thought it was this young man playing with we because he always is playing with we. So the day when I came from work, I said you blood Deon, why you di call my house for at that time of the night. He said, ‘Ms. Marion dah nuh me.’ This morning 5:30 the person called again, ‘we done kill ah.’”

Eddie Neal had spent 5 years in jail for a robbery conviction during which he participated in the prison’s rehabilitation program. Since his release, Eddie Neal had started a relationship with Keniesha Bodden.

Keniesha Bodden, Girlfriend of murder victim
“Yesterday afternoon I was playing some cards and thing around my house and he came. You know me and him had gone through some thing, a little quarrel and thing and so he came around yesterday. He said, ‘babes me and you over,’ and I didn’t answer him. Then he told me he loved me and he kissed me and said he will come back for me later and that was it. He didn’t get to come back. They call and tell me how my bwoy dead and thing and it was a shock. Although he does a lot of thing but my bwoy was a hustler, that’s all I have to say. He might not have job or nothing but he is a hustler, he made sure I eat.”

A hustler who is now dead and a family mourning and now demanding justice or if not revenge.

Marion Plunkett Alvarez,
“I want justice because then if we nuh get justice, we will tek justice because we know dah who do it.”

Keith Swift,
“Do you know why they did it?”

Marion Plunkett Alvarez,
“I don’t know why and I don’t even want to know why. I don’t want to know why.”

Keniesha Bodden,
“All I have to say is stop the violence and thing, that’s all I have to say because to the person who killed my man, revenge is a b***h, payback is a b***h in this life, sorry to curse, but when they think they killed my bwoy brutally, something worse will come back to them.”

Marion Plunkett Alvarez,
“This is my second son. I lost one when he was 35 to poisoning and I lost this one when he was 27 to gunshot but tell them to prepare and tighten up because the war just start. Payback, tell them tighten up. Tell them first cry dah nuh cry. Last cry dah the cry. I di cry now but somebody else will cry worst than me. Just pass the message.”
