Two nights ago we told you about a Belizean man living in California, 49 year
old Michael Sutherland, also known as Richard Arnold Broyles, who was wanted
in the city of Inglewood for allegedly molesting two young girls repeatedly.
Well, tonight we can confirm that Sutherland is in the hands of Belize police
– after he was caught yesterday.
7News has confirmed that Sutherland was picked up yesterday evening in the
Belize River Valley, reportedly in the village of Double Head Cabbage. He is
known to have relatives in that area. Sutherland, who is a US and Belizean citizen
is expected to be returned to Los Angeles shortly to face an arrest warrant
with $1-million bail.
The charges he will face are two felony counts of child molestation for allegedly
molesting his girlfriend’s daughter since she was 7 years old. The girl,
now 14, reported the alleged abuse to police. While investigating the allegations,
police learned of a woman who said Sutherland molested her when she was under
14. The victims are reportedly also of Belizean descent.
