And because of those contracts and other questionable arrangements,
the Prime Minister says the fight with Lord Ashcroft and his multiple corporate
entities will continue – except this time, it will be on government’s
terms.

“Litigation there will continue to be except that now we are in the
driver’s seat and this will be offensive litigation. These agreements
are going to be challenged. They were not as far as we can see approved by the
PUC and in any event, once you get at the shareholding in both companies and
you see the fact of common ownership, these companies are fundamentally anti-competitive
and the laws of this country governing telecommunications do not allow for that.
And one tidbit, Telemedia is going to sue with respect to Channel 5 and the
fact that that was given over to this company in a way that we don’t believe
was proper.”
Prime Minister Barrow noted that the former BTL shareholders have already
put in their claims for compensation.
