On Monday Cecil Gabourel pleaded guilty to manslaughter for killing his wife
on Christmas day of 2006. Today was sentencing day and Justice Adolph Lucas
gave him 15 years in jail for it. He fatally stabbed Carol Gabourel after an
argument over of all things – ham. Cecil allegedly came home drunk that
evening and carol told him not to touch the ham. An argument ensued which ended
when another man came to pick up carol. Cecil threatened to kill them and that’s
when he pulled out a knife and stabbed her in the neck area.
In his plea for mitigation, Cecil Gabourel’s attorney told Justice Lucas
that Cecil was provoked because the next man that his was have a relationship
with went right to the front gate to pick up the woman. The sentence will be
retroactive to January when Gabourel first pleaded guilty. He had retracted
that guilty plea at sentencing.
