Miss Garifuna Belize City will be chosen tomorrow night at the Bliss
Center. It will officially kick off activities leading up to November 19th.
There are five candidates – each hoping for an opportunity to represent
Belize City in the National Miss Garifuna Pageant next week. But they’ll
have to win tomorrow night to get there. The final practice session before tomorrow
was held this evening and that’s where we met the candidates.

the pageant because my mom told me to enter it.”

Michael Martinez, Belize City NGC
“Tomorrow evening the 31st of October we will be having our first
major activity in celebrating the Garifuna Settlement Day and this will be the
selection of Miss Garifuna Belize City. For this contest, we have five beautiful
Garifuna young women participating in this contest.
People can expect a lot of things. This will be a spectacular pageant.
We have these five beautiful Garifuna young ladies and they will be dancing
their paranda, chumba, their individual presentations and it is exciting because
each and every one of these young women have come so far in speaking their language
as well as with their presentations, their individual presentations and I know
all these young women have a lot of surprises for the audience tomorrow.”
Again, the show starts at 7 pm tomorrow night at the Bliss Center.
