There could be only one winner and the new Miss Garifuna Queen is Arreni Flores, a resident of Hopkins Village. Regrettably, she wasn’t there when we taped this rehearsal video. She was closely followed by Miss Dangriga Lawani Marin who came in second and Miss Belize City Keila Martinez who walked off with third place.

According to pageant coordinators, the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts was packed to capacity and it was a very close competition. The first place prizes included a UB scholarship and a lap top computer.

On Thursday in observance of Garifuna awareness day, all Garinagu are being asked to wear their cultural attire.
