Tonight we note the passing of the former financial director at the Belize
City Council Dwain Davis. The 55 year old died at 9:55 this morning at the Karl
Heusner Memorial Hospital where he had been hospitalized for 11 days.
He suffered a massive stroke on November 5th after leaving the Magistrate’s
Court. He had appeared for an adjournment in his case where he along with Mayor
Zenaida Moya are charged for 24 criminal counts. Doctors had given Davis a 5%
chance of surviving since he suffered bleeding in his brainstem. Davis had been
terminated two weeks before his stroke.
Speaking with the DPP Cheryl Lynn Branker Taitt today, she said Davis’s
passing will not affect the case she has brought against the mayor. Branker-Taitt
says she will proceed with those charges because they are supported by their
own independent evidence.
