If you have nothing yet on your social calendar for this weekend we
just might have what may want to attend and the good news is that not only is
it free but it promises to be quite a stress free and relaxing evening. World
renown musicians Marieli Sosa of Mexico and Christopher Collins Lee of the united
states will team up on Saturday and Sunday to perform works by well known Vitali,
Schubert, O’Connor, Kreisler and John Willimans among others.
Marielie Sosa, a popular pianist has successfully been received in
countries across the globe and is also well known for her solo performances
in different symphony orchestras. Christopher Collin Lee, American renowned
violinist has received several awards and as well is a worldwide performer.
He is a graduate from Julliard School of Music in New York. Today Jacqueline
Godwin spoke to Jorge Luis Hidalgo, the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Mexican
Embassy in Belize about the artists and this weekend’s classical performances.

“They are very good performers and it is a very good opportunity that
the Embassies of Mexico and the USA thought it is was a very good idea to bring
for the season for the year. So I believe it is one of the best opportunities
that we believe in a recital in Belize has such beautiful classical music.
On Sunday morning at the Bliss Centre for the Performing Arts a master
class. So all those musicians in Belize can call the Mexican Culture Institute
at 223 0193 or 94 and requests the information related to this master class.
It is also a great opportunity because we have such artists in Belize.
The Embassy of Mexico is also collaborating with the Embassy of Brazil
to Belize. In this case we are preparing and we are going to present starting
in the month of December first, Tuesday at 7p.m. at the Mexican Culture of Institute
in Belize City, a film festival of Brazilian cinema. There are six movies, recent
productions in Portuguese language, Brazilian language with English subtitles.
The Institute of Mexico has throughout the year every Wednesday night a
movie or a presentation, a show not only from Mexico but from different countries.
We have Spain, Africa, Jamaica and this is in collaboration with Wednesday nights
at the movies as we call it. It is in collaboration with NICH.”
The recitals by pianist Marieli Sosa of Mexico and US violinist Christopher
Collins Lee take place on Saturday November twenty eight at the George Price
Centre for Peace and Development in Belmopan and on November twenty ninth at
the Bliss Centre for Performing Arts in Belize City. The recitals start at six
in the evenings remember the performances are free of cost.
