It was never reported last week in the police press release but today authorities
report that twenty seven year old Nigel Arzu, a driver for Citrus Products of
Belize Limited died on Tuesday from injuries he sustained in a road traffic
accident. According to the police report around eight thirty on the morning
of December second, Nigel Arzu along with the company’s salesman twenty
two year old Steve Beet were travelling from Dangriga to Belmopan but between
miles forty five and forty six on the Hummingbird Highway Nigel Arzu lost control
of the vehicle.
The cargo truck’s left front wheel blew out. The vehicle ran into a drain
off the highway. Nigel Arzu received serious body injuries while Steve Beet
had only minor injuries. Both men were taken to the Western Regional Hospital
but Nigel Arzu had to be transported further to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital
where he died yesterday.
