Twenty four year old Independence Village resident Rudolph Godoy will be spending
his Christmas and New Year behind bars at the Belize Central Prison after he
was accused of stabbing a police officer. Over two weeks ago, on the night of
November twenty-ninth, Rudolph Godoy was inside McGee’s Club in Independence
Village when he allegedly stabbed Police Constable Pedro Pech.
Even though PC Pech who was in uniform, was stabbed with a dagger in the chest,
he still managed to pull out his service revolver and shoot Rudolph Godoy twice
in his right leg. Since then, Godoy has been in the hospital recovering form
the gunshot wound to his leg. Today upon his release, he was formally arraigned
in the Belize City Magistrate court on the charges of attempted murder, dangerous
harm and use of deadly means of harm.
Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie explained to the accused that no plea will
be taken because the offences are indictable and that the court could not offer
him bail because of the nature of the offences. Following his court appearance
Rudolph Godoy was transported to prison where he will remain until his next
court date January fifteenth, 2010.
