Former Minister of Agriculture Chiste Garcia has passed away. The former UDP
minister of agriculture died on Saturday December 19th three days after his
59th birthday. According to UDP sources, Garcia had been suffering with a kidney
ailment for some time. He was a one term parliamentarian who represented Dangriga
form 1993 to 1998. A trained agronomist Garcia was the Minister of Agriculture.
He made a political comeback as UDP standard bearer for Dangriga in 2003 but
was unsuccessful. Garcia was well liked and highly regarded in his community
and is survived by two sons. His funeral will be held at Sacred Heart Church
in Dangriga on Wednesday afternoon.
