Tonight Audrey Morgan, the wife of Albert Hendrick Morgan Jr. remains
in police custody and police have now handed the file to the Director of Public
Prosecutions to decide whether she will be charged for her husband’s murder.
Initially she told police investigators that an armed man entered the home early
on Tuesday morning and stabbed her husband. She said that she ran to help her
husband by grabbing away the knife, but claims the intruder threw her to the
ground. But there were inconsistencies in her account –
and neither the family nor police were convinced. And with good reason, according
to reports Audrey Morgan did finally confess to what happened inside the home,
that she did it, but only as a response to being strangled. Today her co-worker,
traffic warden Phillip Henry better known as Father told 7News what Audrey Morgan
told him when he went to visit her at the police station.
Phillip “Father” Henry, Friend of Accused
“Audrey rushed to me and gave me a hug and that is when I went in
tears for her and I said Audrey you can talk to me and tell me what happened.
But she said Father, the longest day you live don’t put your hand on a
woman. She says I was going through this long time. I said I could tell what I know from when you come to work, you explain to everybody that you the get
abuse long time and you don’t want to go to the system because he threatened
to kill you and you are afraid. So I told her this is the time to come out and
tell them. Well the CIB was there, she is a very good friend of mine, and I
said officer talk to her. She says she is so afraid, she is so afraid that when
he attacked her, he was choking her and she said she was about to fall down
and he flung her on the ground and she couldn’t even remember what she
had done and she said she woke up and that was it.
This is just another woman who is crying out in self-defense mode. Because
when she rushed to my arms she was shaking and said she is tired of what this
guy had been doing to her, tired of it.
To tell you the truth, if the DPP has some thing like in her hand, or any
amount of these cases in her hand and the government is hearing out, they know
that the system needs to get worked on and the DPP herself will see there are
majority women cases like this. So I think this is just another case that a
woman like this should be set free.”
According to Philip Henry he did observed a nasty bruise on Audrey
Morgan’s forehead which she tells family members she got when Albert Morgan
Junior allegedly threw her against a wall. As we noted, the case file is now
in the hands of the Director of Public Prosecutions who will decide if any charges
should be brought against the wife. Audrey Morgan is the mother of four young
children. A post mortem has shown that Albert Morgan died from a stab wound
to the heart.
