And while the grenade attack dominated the crime news – there were three
shootings reported over the long Christmas weekend. Forty four year old Bruce
Faber of Belize City is back home recovering after someone tried to kill him
on Christmas Eve night. Police report that around eight on Thursday night Bruce
Faber was at the corner of East Collet Canal and Yarborough road in front of
a shop when he was approached by a clear complexioned man.
The unidentified man fired several shots in his direction. Bruce Faber suffered
a single gunshot wound to the left arm near his bicep and an abrasion to the
left upper side of the body. Bruce Faber was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial
Hospital treated and released.
Then earlier the next day around five on Christmas morning, Belize City police
were back at the KHMH. This time twenty year old Darrel Berry was observed with
a single gunshot wound to the left side of his cheek. Police report that around
earlier that morning around three thirty, Darrel Berry was walking through Pitts
Alley heading towards Castle Street when a man on a bicycle fired several shots.
The suspect is described only as a man dressed in black with a mask over his
face. Darrel beery remains at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. We tried to
speak to him but he declined to be interviewed. As to who pulled the trigger?
Well police did not say but no one has been detained as yet.
And Belize City police are still looking for the gunman who shot at Denford
Bevans Junior on Boxing Day. Police report that around ten twenty on morning
of December 26th Denford Bevans was at a basketball court on Ebony Street with
friends when a man on a bicycle passed and fired several shots in his direction.
Denford Bevans was struck to the right wrist and buttocks. He remains at the
Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
