It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Ras Indio. To
be precise, it’s been two years since he released an album. And that is
because he has been touring and performing in the United States and Canada alongside
big names like Richie Spice and Chuck Fenda. Well just in time for the New Year,
Ras Indio has a new CD and music video. The album is called “Jah Bless.”
It is a 23 song disc which features collaborations with Luciano and Turbulence.
He told us all about the new album and a new song he brought out this week in
response to Monday’s grenade attack on Kraal Road.
Ras Indio, Releasing New CD
“We decided that we had to do a song which involved what’s going
on. The hand grenade thing is kind of far fetched to think that hand grenades
could end up on the street of Belize injuring several and many. So we just took
this song and we did it, me and my brother Rebel who is in Houston right now,
and we are just making the fire burn. We are trying to reach out to the youths
and ask them to rest the violence in the streets. Killing one another can never
get us anywhere. We are all brothers, we have to be our brother’s keeper."
Keith Swift,
“Tell us about the album.”
Ras Indio,
“Jah Bless is the name, in stores soon and you can tell by the little
green sticker on the CD if it is the authentic copy. The name speaks for itself.
This album, we really want to get the people involved and let you know to support
the album. It is going to be $25 because it has 23 songs and besides that, four
of these songs feature major international artists like Luciano. So we really
want people to go out and realize. And it is all a full eco-package, printed
in Canada and it is all recyclable material. It is soy based ink. It is a natural
drawing.”
The video was directed by Paul Munnings. The album is available from
Ras Indio and in select stores. You can find more information at RasIndioBelize.com.
