Kareem Bowen Charged for Attacking Disabled Teen
posted (January 6, 2010)

Who would viciously attack a disabled young man who literally cannot hurt a fly? You are looking at the face of twenty nine year old Kareem Bowen. He is one of the men who – it is alleged - viciously stabbed nineteen year old Kenrick Augustus and robbed the disabled teenager of eighty dollars. On Tuesday Kareem Bowen who is a fisherman of 4082 Sibun Street in Belize City was positively identified by his victim.

During the ID parade several scratch marks were observed on his back. Those are believed to be defence wounds caused by Kenrick Augustus as he was dragged on the street and repeatedly stabbed to his left wrist, right middle finger and neck. Kareem Bowen has been charged with robbery and wounding while the other suspect remains at large. He has not yet been arraigned in court.

The ruthless attack occurred in an alley off Mopan Street around three on Sunday morning. Kenrick Augustus better known as Bolo was walking home after socializing at MJ’s Club when he was rushed by two men and dragged along the street into the alley. Augustus who suffers from cerebral palsy was then knifed as the men stole his money. He cannot speak so Augustus did all he could: he screamed as loud as possible and the robbers ran off.

It is expected that Kareem Bowen will appear in Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Thursday where he will be arraigned on the charges of robbery and wounding.
