And if all those grenades still floating freely around don’t keep you
up at night – the news that a gun like this has been stolen from the BDF
probably will. It’s an M4 Carbine weapon – which is a smaller version
of an M16 rifle – and it was stolen from the Belize Defense Force’s
guard room at Price Barracks on Sunday.
A release from the BDF confirms that during a routine weapons check at 12:30
yesterday – was discovered missing. The army says it tried to locate the
weapon but couldn’t and that’s when they called police. The investigation
is now in the hands of the criminal investigations branch. The BDF says it is
working closely with the police to ensure the retrieval of the stolen weapon
and that security at all locations has been tightened.
