Desmond Thompson has been a security guard for Bowen and Bowen for the past
ten years but today the sixty five year old was in Magistrate’s Court
arraigned on the charges of dangerous harm and aggravated assault.
Appearing in front of Magistrate Sharon Frazer he pleaded not guilty to dangerous
harm but no plea was taken for the charge of aggravated assault because it is
an indictable offence. The prosecution objected to bail on the grounds that
Desmond Thompson and one of the complaints, Kirk Craig live at the same residence
and that Craig’s condition has not yet been ascertained. He remains hospitalized
at the KHMH.
The Magistrate upheld the objection and Desmond Thompson is tonight behind
bars on remand at the Belize Central Prison until he is scheduled to reappear
in court on February nineteenth.
The police report is that on January ninth that an argument erupted between
Kirk Craig who is the manager of the apartment where he resides and Desmond
Thompson who is one of the tenants. The argument was reportedly over rent money.
During the exchange of words Kirk Craig told police Desmond Thompson pulled
out a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the right side of the abdomen. For that
incident Desmond Thompson was charged for dangerous harm.
And then on January twelfth Desmond Thompson allegedly assaulted the owner
of the apartment building. In that incident, fifty eight year old Erwin Yorke
told police that when he went to Desmond Thompson to inquire about the stabbing
of Kirk Craig and the rent money, Desmond Thompson attacked him with a machete.
