There were 1286 burglaries reported countrywide last year – and probably
in about 99% of those cases, males were the perpetrators. That’s why it’s
news tonight that 27 year old Catherine Michael of Queen Charlotte Street in
Belize City was charged with burglar today. More than that, the man she robbed
claims he caught her in the act.
It happened around 12:10 on Tuesday afternoon when Wilfred Young, a resident
of Fairweather Street says he got home and found Michael inside his house. He
said that when she saw him, she ran. When he made a check, he found that his
wristwatch was missing. Police investigation showed that the burglar gained
entry by prying open a louver.
Michael pleaded not guilty in court and was offered bail of three thousand
dollars. But before she can get that bail, Michael has to pay outstanding fines
for harm and threatening words.
