Talented singer Melanie Gillett is one of the performers that is also
lending her talent to the help Haiti benefit concert and telethon organized
by Channel 7 and KREM. Today she told us why she just had to help.
Melonie Gillett, Performing
“Haiti is in need of us right now and natural disasters can occur
anywhere in the world, it could have been us. If it was we would have needed
their help as well so I am just doing what I can and anyway I can do that and
it is through music and with this concert. It is inspiring in many different
ways. It is inspiring to see people make it through such a situation and you
didn’t expect them, like the many people who survived and there are those
breaks for so long and they weren’t expected to be alive and they were
alive and it is inspires me to know that is possible. I have this soft spot
when I see all those people in Haiti suffering and I just want do something
to help them.”
Jules Vasquez,
“Do you expect to give an inspiring performance?”
Melonie Gillett,
“Yes definitely. That is what I always expect to do.”
The Help Haiti benefit concert and telethon is set for Saturday night
at the bliss. All proceeds form the door and the telethon will go to the Belize
Red Cross. Tomorrow, we’ll speak to Kailiah Enrqiuez who is organizing
the roster of artists about who all you can come to the Bliss or tune in to see. And after our benefit concert – you can go to Club Next for a benefit
party. The event is called Earthquake and it brings together some of the most
luminous talents and booming sound systems. Troy Dalla Flowers is organizing
the benefit event and he told us more.
