Pseudo-Ephedrine Pills Reappear
posted (January 22, 2010)

Belize continues to be a target for Psuedo-Ephedrine smugglers. The Customs Department has confirmed that last week a box came into Belize via a freight carrier service stuffed with pseudo-ephedrine pills. According to Customs, the box contains 10,355 pills and came out of Singapore. It is consigned to the name of a Chinese person and a King’s Park Address. But according to Customs, investigations so far suggest both the name and address are fictitious.

But the interesting part is that it’s been sitting there for over a week with Customs’ eyes on it and no one has come to pick it up. And that’s no small thing to leave around. At the value which police and Customs stated during the most recent string of busts which was three to four dollars per pill – this abandoned package has an estimated value of $41,000.

There are reports – which Customs said they could not confirm – that similar, unclaimed package came in a few weeks ago.
