More than 100 performers of all types, singers, dancers and players
of instruments will perform at tomorrow night’s Help Haiti Benefit Concert
and Telethon at the Bliss Center. It promises to be one of the biggest concerts
ever. Proof of that is the line-up which we can announce tonight will include
Sweet Tea. That’s right – the Belizean songstress who first made
her name in Belize and then did it in the United States is in town recording
a new album and today she told us why she decided to be a part of the benefit
concert.
Sweet Tea, Performing at Help Haiti Concert
“My heart went out to Haiti. I heard about everything that was going
on down there and since I am in town, it is just very fortunate. It is a beautiful
show that everyone is going to come out and enjoy. We have a lot of surprises
in store and I am super excited about being a part of it.”
Keith Swift,
“Why do you think it is important that we help Haiti?”
Sweet Tea,
“Well think about it this way: it could have been us. God put us in
a better situation and perhaps we are in a situation that we can help them out.
For artists to be coming together, at this point it is not about why it is about
we have to do this. Humanity, love, our brothers and sisters – Haiti is
similar to Belize so we are helping out our brethrens.”
Keith Swift,
“And as an artist did you think twice about performing for free?”
Sweet Tea,
“Absolutely not. I feel like I am gaining something. I feel like I
am getting paid, it is a lot of publicity in doing something like this. Not
to say we are doing it for the publicity but to attract people to come out and
to support and since I am here, since I have the mic, I am going to take the
opportunity to tell you to open your hearts, open your wallets, open your purses,
open your pockets, and give because our brethrens need us right now.”
