And while that killing happened early this morning, late last night
there was another – also on Central American Boulevard. The victim was
31 year old Ralton Usher who was also a working man – gainfully employed
and the owner of his own car and house. But someone wanted him dead and they
did it last night at around 10:45. Here’s that story.
Keith Swift Reporting,
This was the chaotic scene last night in front of the 88 Shopping Center on
Central American Boulevard as a large crowd looked on as police removed the
body of 31 year old Ralton Usher from out of a drain. Shabba, as he was known,
had been executed.
Sherilyn Hoare, Niece of Deceased
“I think they say about seven shots because two gone into his head,
two in his chest, and the other parts of his body.”
Usher was on a bike but he drives this Toyota Camry which he parked last night
on Armadillo Street around 10 pm. He then jumped on a bicycle and was riding
to a girl friend’s house on Doris Brooks Street.
Sherilyn Hoare,
“Some young lady because he liked ladies, some lady text him to come
and see her and thing and he didn’t want to bring his car, this right
here is his car. He didn’t want to drive in his car because he didn’t want nobody to thief in it or break into it because he was coming to sleep at
the young lady’s house.”
But Usher never made it to the young lady’s house because he was ambushed
here at the corner of Neal’s Pen Road and the Boulevard in front of 88
Shopping Center. This morning the blood was still visible on the sidewalk where
he was shot.
Sherilyn Hoare,
“We heard the shots and everything last night but we never believe
it was him because we didn’t see it. We saw him when police were taking
him in the back of the truck to the hospital but we don’t know exactly
what happened.”
One witness tells us that usher’s killer was dropped off by an SUV and
after the shooting – the SUV returned and the killer fled. It sounds like
a hit but Ralton Usher’s family says he was hard working. His two nieces
– Sherie and Sherilyn Hoare – who this morning showed us his blood
soaked clothes on which the bullet holes were visible are at a loss as to why
anyone would want to kill him.
Sherilyn Hoare,
“I know a lot of people talk about you never should say nobody isn’t
somebody bad or something like that but he we could say was not somebody bad. He was a part of our family and he didn’t nothing to nobody so we can’t
understand what happened and why he got shot.”
Sherie Hoare, Niece of Murder Victim
“He is not a trouble person. I could say that for a fact because he
works at Brad’s at Pound Yard and all he does is run a lot of joke with
everybody who comes around and he likes a lot of ladies – that is all
we could say why that happened to him. It was sake of a young woman because
my uncle doesn’t have beef with anyone.”
Sherilyn Hoare,
“Ih nuh thief nobody, ih nuh rob nobody, and nothing like that. He
just works for his money. I don’t know if someone really was hating on
him because of the way how he rests because as I tell unu he just got this car,
he just bought two speakers for it, and so he was playing music and he rests
how he is, for the ladies. As I tell you he loves ladies and things like that
but we can’t say it is because of ladies neither. Maybe it could just
be someone who is hating on him. That is all I can say because he doesn’t
do nobody nothing.”
Sherie Hoare,
“All we could say is that they really jealous, that is what I will
say. They jealous he or I don’t what to say because as what I tell you
my uncle nuh do nobody nothing. He doesn’t do nobody nothing. He is one
friendly person. He will run joke with you but he doesn’t mean what he
says. My uncle doesn’t even got a gun and I can put my head on the block
to say uncle nuh got no gun.”
And now this family that was preparing for a reunion – will meet for
a funeral.
Sherie Hoare,
“We were going to have our family reunion in April because it is her
birthday and she hadn’t come in six years but she will have to come down
a little bit earlier. She asked us not to bury him until she comes.”
Sherilyn Hoare,
“They took away somebody special from our lives. It is very sad and
hard for the family because we didn’t expect it and I just want to know
what they will do about it because something has to be done, this is too much.
I don’t understand what is happening.
All I have to ask the person is why. This person didn’t do anything
to you. I don’t know if this person did something to you to make you feel
a kind of way, to make you do something like this. But even if this person said
something to you, you didn’t have to do what you. I mean 7 shots, that
is actually mean to kill him. Two head shots, I don’t understand. I really
would want to know why the person did it and if it was just probably just shooting
spree right now but we really want to know.”
And so do the police who have made no arrests.
Police briefly questioned a female suspect but she wasn’t detained.
