A Caye Caulker cop has been placed on interdiction and brought up on disciplinary
charges after he was accused of sexually assaulting an under-aged tourist. On
Tuesday the second of February at about 11:40 pm 20 year old Constable Darren
Casimiro of Caye Caulker allegedly rode up to the a 14 year old Canadian visitor
who was walking on Front street. He instructed her to follow him behind Sobre
Las Olas Bar. That’s where she claims her fondled her. The minor told
her mother what happened and they made a police report.
Police also got a statement from a witness and charged Casimiro for indecent
assault upon a minor. He was arraigned in court yesterday and received bail
of $2,500.
He has been placed on interdiction and may also face disciplinary charges.
The child’s mother said the constable abused his authority in directing
the child to go behind the bar. She told us they have been visiting Belize for
two months and plan to leave next week.
