A 27 year old who was caught with a gun on Friday is in jail tonight, not on
remand – instead he’s serving a sentence for keeping a firearm and
ammunition without a license.
Just before noon on Friday police stopped Marlon Usher for a random search
at the corner of Caesar Ridge Road and Central American Boulevard near the Port
and Customs House. The search resulted in the discovery of a .25 Beretta pistol
and five rounds of .25 calibre ammunition in the magazine. The weapon was in
his front pocket. He was arrested and held over the weekend. Today in court
he pleaded guilty to both charges of keeping a firearm and ammunition without
a license.
Magistrate Edd Usher sentenced him to two years for each count with the sentences
to run concurrently which means that he will only serve two years in prison.
Magistrate Usher said he made the stipulation for a two year sentence because
Usher saved the court time by pleading guilty.
