Police say they have new leads are searching for a suspect for Monday’s
early morning murder of the Nigerian security guard at the Biltmore Plaza Hotel.
Kaluru was stabbed to death with a kitchen knife just outside the security booth
on the Northern Highway.
A security guard in the area told us that he heard Kaluru Oloungududu’s
screams for help at around 2:30. Police say robbery doesn’t appear to
have been the motive for the particularly brutal murder since after he was killed,
the killers quickly scaled a fence at the rear of the hotel and fled. But today
investigators told us today they aren’t ruling anything out.
A post mortem was conducted this evening on Kaluru Oloungududu and he will
buried in accordance with Muslim tradition. Oloungududu moved to Belize 7 months
ago and was working as both a taxi-man and as a security guard at the Biltmore
Hotel.
