Trio Charged for Sandhill Gas Station Robbery

Three Belize City men accused of jacking a gas station in Sandhill last week are in jail on remand tonight. 23 year old Ryan Barnett, 25 year old Andy Williams and 23 year old Andrew Baptist were charged with aggravated burglary and conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary today in Magistrate’s Court. They pleaded not guilty but were remanded until April 27th because it of the nature of the offence.

It happened on the evening of Thursday the 18th.February at the gas station at mile 16 on the Northern Highway. The two attendants who are brothers Elias and Eliseo Moralez, and the cashier Silvia Coronado reported that a man entered the gas station bought a Philly Cigar and left. He then came back for a Bambu wrapping paper and when he was served, he took out a gun and ordered Elias to tie up Eliseo and Silvia with duct tape. He then stole just a shade under five thousand dollars in cash, two cell phones, cigarettes and assorted liquor.

But quick work by the police led to the recovery of $668, some of the liquor and one of the phones.
