posted (February 24, 2010)

A man was shot last night in Belize City. Police report that 35 year old Cleo Robinson was on Glen Street riding home at around 11:20 when a gunman approached him and opened fire. Robinson was shot once in the lower back, the center upper back, and on the left side of his abdomen. He is hospitalized in critical condition.

Pellet Gun Victim Still Critical

Tonight 19 year old pellet gun shooting victim Ahmaad Nah remains hospitalized but doctors say he is showing slow signs of improvement. His brain is still swollen and the pellet which penetrated his skull remains lodged in his brain. Nah is still sedated and intubated but doctors say he is not brain dead. They say he is sedated because they are waiting for the swelling to subside before making any attempts to remove the pellet. Doctors say there is still a slim chance for recovery. His family is keeping vigil at his beside and continues to ask for prayers.

Nah was accidentally shot in the left side of his forehead with a pellet gun on Sunday afternoon by a 12 year old girl. Police are investigating but no one has been charged and no indication has been given if the 12 year old girl will face criminal charges for the shooting. As we reported last night – pellet guns are legal in Belize and you don’t need a license to purchase or carry one.
