There was a jolt of panic in downtown Belize City this morning at around 8:00
when a shot was fired on North Front Street at its junction with Pickstock Street.
No one was hurt, but police report that a vehicle was passing by when a man
on a bicycle fired a shot at it. The acting Police Press Officer says the bullet
smashed the car window but luckily no one was hurt. But the report of the gunshot
did send a wave of panic rippling through an area one block away from Holy Redeemer
School at the height of the morning rush.
Then this afternoon at around 3:30, there was another disturbance on North
Front Street when Accent Store which is right at the foot of the Swing Bridge
was robbed at gunpoint. Police confirmed that an undetermined amount of cash
was stolen.
