Belizean-American businessman Jason Coombs was executed at his business
place on November 11, 2009, and three and a half months later, Police still
have not made any arrests. Though a special team of two seasoned investigators
was appointed to investigate last month – there’s still been no
major development. The primary suspect – the man who drove the car that
was used in the killing continues to elude police. And it’s just too much
for Coombs’s mother, Valerie Coombs. She is a US citizen and is doing
all she can in that country to pressure Belizean law enforcement to make an
arrest. She’s taken her story to the US media and now the Boca Raton Florida
resident is taking it to her political representatives. Last week, the CBS affiliate
in Palm Beach told that story.

Valerie Coombs, Mother
“This is my boy, this is Jason Coombs.”
Valerie Coombs without her son for three months and five days.
Valerie Coombs,
“I feel useless because I have nowhere to turn.”
His story plastered everywhere.
Valerie Coombs,
“Popular businessman brutally murdered, Pre-Con owner gunned down,
Jason Coombs Executed.”
But his family says they need justice for 38 year old Jason Coombs.
Valerie Coombs,
“I saw my son’s body bullet ridden.”
Coombs was an FAU Graduate and started a cement company in Belize. His
mother says that company is what got him killed. He was awarded a top contract.
Valerie says the police told her someone wanted him dead because of that and
they said they even found the car used to commit the crime but still no one
is behind bars.
Valerie Coombs,
“I have to get justice for my boy.”
This mother is on a crusade, she wants the FBI involved, something she
says the Belize Police have refused and today she faxed these letters to Florida
Senators.
Valerie Coombs,
“It is far more than I can even tell them.”
Valerie is bold in saying there is corruption in Belize and isn’t
holding back even when hearing the word retaliation.
Valerie Coombs,
”That would be a mistake for them.”
For now this mother of four will help run her son’s cement business
in Belize, make phone calls for help, and keep praying, praying for closure.
Valerie Coombs,
“To know who killed my son, to know who shot him.”
Coombs has now appeared on ABC, NBC and CBS affiliates. She told us
via telephone that she will continue pressing the case in the United States.
