And while those minors were robbed, a medical school was burglarized
between last night and this morning. The Belize Medical College at the Boom
cut-off was all set and stocked for a series of seminars for Belizean social
workers and law enforcement officers – but when they got to the compound
this morning, they found that all the food for the event, the projector, the
PA system and the safe had been stolen. Keishalynn Estell told us more.
Keishalynn Estell, Belize Medical College
“Our librarian, she arrived at school this morning and when she went
to put on the AC for the conference area she realized that the windows were
broken and when she looked inside she saw that all the contents of the cafeteria were gone and when she looked into the seminar rea she realized that our equipment
were also gone and then when she came back over to the main administration building
she realized then that the door was pried open and also the secretary’s
office was pried open.”
Jim McFadzean,
”What was missing from the secretary’s office?”
Keishalynn Estell,
“Our company safe, that was gone. Personally I would say it is somebody
that is aware of what we have so I would think that it was an inside job.”
Jim McFadzean,
“Have there been any robberies here before?”
Keishalynn Estell,
“Yes in our library they had stolen all our computers from the library,
just the computers. So it leads us to believe that it is somebody that really
knows what’s going on here.”
The safe contained $500 along with some very important legal documents.
The total value of the losses is estimated at five thousand dollars comparable
to last year’s burglary when computers valuing six thousand dollars were
stolen. The school if offering a reward of one thousand dollars for anyone with
information which may led to an arrest and recovery of the items.
