And while that is the story from Kevin Casanova’s family, the family of Kevin Lino is also grieving. He lives in Placencia and works at the same resort as Kevin Casanova. He was in Belize City visiting his sister. In fact just a short time before he was murdered, he left his sister’s home. As we mentioned, he is the son of Stann Creek Magistrate Clive Lino. Lino came to Belize City this afternoon to claim his son’s body and spoke to 7News.

“One of shock, disbelief, anger. Those were my initial reactions. I didn’t expect any of that. He was quite calm, quiet child, he has a few companies, friends, but nothing that I would have expected would have resulted in this.”

Keith Swift,
“Does it bother you that there is the belief he wasn’t the target?”

Clive Lino,
“Well that is what I understand. There are several stories of course but that is one of the stories that have been out. If that is the case then it’s a pity that it happened.

He was on four days off from his work and he came to spend some time with his sister here in Belize.”

Keith Swift,
“When was he scheduled to go back?”

Clive Lino,
“Yesterday or this morning, he was supposed to go back 5:15. He is a person who is outgoing, he makes friends easily, friendly guy. Those were his better traits.”

Keith Swift,
“How is the family coping?”

Clive Lino,
“Well we’ve been strong. Our faith has kept us strong. We believe in the justice system and we just hope that the forerunners, the police as the forerunners in the justice system that they do their job properly and those who are responsible are brought to justice. I have faith in the Lord first and then faith in the justice system.”

Keith Swift,
“What is your message to the men who did this?”

Clive Lino,
“I would tell them to ask for forgiveness.”

Keith Swift,
“You don’t feel anger, you don’t want revenge?”

Clive Lino,
“No I don’t feel anger. God will take care of whatever he needs to do.”

Unconfirmed reports are that there was a third person in the car with Kevin Casanova and Kevin Lino and that person was able to avoid being shot. We understand he is now talking to police. Police say they are investigating the possibility that there were two shooters; one chased and killed Casanova, the other killed Lino.
