One more prisoner was recaptured this morning, leaving three still at large.
Twenty five year old Terry Bainton was captured in the Lake Independence area
of Belize City before 8:00 this morning when a police led operation surrounded
the home on Zericote Street that he was holed up in. Bainton was captured without
incident. Similarly, when he escaped in 2007 he was captured at a home in the
city – that one in the Collett Area on Antelope Street.
Bainton joins his fellow escapee 21year old Jose-Luis Cocom who was captured
in the Louisiana area of Orange Walk district two days ago. An intensive search
is being carried out by law enforcement officials for the remaining three prisoners,
who the Police advise might be armed and should be considered dangerous. Still
on the run are thirty five year old Dennis Quilter, of Creole descent who might
be in the Ladyville/Belize City area.
Forty five year old Juan Melendez, of Mestizo descent, who police believe may
be heading to one of the Northern Districts, and the third escapee is twenty
two year old Jose Melgar, of Mestizo descent, who is believed to be heading
west. The public is asked to be on the lookout for these three prisoners and
call the nearest police station or Belize Central Prison at 225-6229 or 225-6191,
with any information regarding the sighting or identification of any or all
three escaped prisoners.
