One more escaped prisoner has been caught. Prison and Police officials captured
45 year old Juan Menendez this morning in the Sandhill Area. He joins the two
others who have been caught, Terry Bainton and Jose Cocom. Two men are still
at large: Dennis Quilter who ran to the United States the last time he escaped,
and 22 year old Jose Melgar who has been identified as the leader of the escape
group.
The men reportedly got out of their cell at the Supermax area of the prison
on Sunday night by using electricity to melt the lock. They then tricked the
guard into coming down into their holding area where they subdued him with a
large prison knife and tied him up. That prison officer Emmanuel Barrow has
since been fired.
