City Residents Caught Heading North With Kilos of Coke

Two men and a woman were caught with 9 kilos about 20 pounds of cocaine on Saturday. Franz W. Hamilton, Steven Burgess, and Leticia Requena, all from Belize City, were in a SUV heading north when they were stopped at a police checkpoint at the Tower Hill Bridge at a few minutes to six on Friday evening. A search of the vehicle turned up eight (8) parcels of suspected cocaine wrapped in brown tape inside the front panel of the front passenger door. Police have charged Hamilton, Burgess, and Requena, jointly with the offence of Drug Trafficking. No bail was granted and they were remanded until May 26th. They are represented by attorneys Anthony Sylvestre and Kevin Arthurs.
