More Police Shootings
posted (April 30, 2010)
The police shooting of Steven Buckley has been making all the headlines, but there are two others to report. First, Michael "Crazy" Arnold was shot by police – as we've reported. While he was being pursued, police also shot 51-year-old Lorna Bainton who was in her bedroom. Arnold had a knife, and police say he advanced towards them. Police fired a Mossberg 12gauge pump action shotgun and the pellets injured him in the left hand. Four of those pellets also found their way into Lorna Bainton's leg.

Arnold sustained (2) shotgun wounds to left hand and below the elbow. When police took him for treatment, he tried to grab one of the officer's weapon but they managed to subdue him. Credible reports to 7News, which the police senior command denied, say that Ladyville Police then put a serious beating on him once he got back to the station and did not take him to the hospital.

The other police shooting happened in Roaring Creek where 28-year-old Noel Herrera who is wanted for the crimes of escape, robbery and on the
strength of a bench warrant, was sighted in an area off Valley of
Peace Road. Police say he was running with a black object in his hand
resembling a firearm, and as a result he was shot to the left and right legs. Police found no weapon on or near him.
